Romantic Cabin Getaways in Washington
Two people, a cabin with a porch, and four lakes that only guests can use. Eighty minutes east of Seattle on I-90 — close enough to leave after work on a Friday, quiet enough that the loudest thing on a weekday morning is a paddle in the water.
What Makes This a Trip for Two
Most cabin getaways in Washington sell you the cabin. The four lakes here are the actual reason to come, and they belong to whoever is staying that night — no day-use crowd, no launch fee, no waiting for a boat. Kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and paddle boats are free and unreserved. You walk down, take one, and go.
The 54 acres do the rest of the work. Trails run from the cabin doors through forest and meadow, the corral holds five sheep, two alpacas, and four horses, and wild elk come through on their own schedule. You can spend a whole weekend without starting the car, which is rarer than it sounds for somewhere this close to a city.
Two details that shape the trip: fishing on our lakes needs no license — bring your own rods, tackle, and bait — and cell service out here is limited. The first one saves you a stop. The second one is arguably the point, but download your maps and playlists before you leave the freeway.
Getting here is simple: I-90 East to Exit 63, then a mile and a half down the road on your left. Freeway the whole way from Seattle, about 80 minutes in good conditions. Which One to Book for Two People
All three sleep two comfortably. The differences that matter for a weekend away are the bathroom and the kitchen.

For most couples the answer is a tiny home. A queen bed sits on the main floor, so nobody is climbing a loft ladder at 2 AM. The bathroom has a shower and a bathtub, the kitchen has a stove and oven, and the A-frame windows run floor to ceiling — you wake up looking at trees rather than at a curtain. Split heat and A/C means it works in February and in August.
If you would rather have the old-fashioned version — wood, a private porch, and the corral fence line out front where the alpacas graze — book one of the cabins. Ask for 4, 5, or 6 if you want a shower in the cabin; 1 through 3 do not have one and use the shared restrooms and showers on the grounds instead. Every cabin has a kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, air fryer, and K-cup coffee maker, but no stove. Bedding and linens are available at additional cost, or bring your own.
The 14-person log lodge is the wrong shape for two people on a normal weekend — but it is the right one if the getaway is an anniversary with both families invited, or if you want a wood fireplace and a movie theater room and do not mind the extra square footage.
What We Don't Have — Read This Before You Book
Search “romantic cabin getaway” in Washington and half the results are selling a hot tub on a deck. We are not, and we would rather be plain about it than have you arrive expecting one.
- No hot tubs. None on the grounds, in any cabin, in the tiny homes, or at the lodge. The tiny homes have a bathtub in a full bathroom, and that is the extent of it. For an actual soak, Glade Spring Spa at Suncadia is about 20 minutes east in Cle Elum, booked directly with them.
- No restaurant, no room service. There is no kitchen cooking for you here and no breakfast included. Cle Elum is about 15 minutes east for groceries and restaurants. If you want to cook, book a tiny home — the cabins have no stove.
- We are not adults-only. This is a family place with tent sites and 22 RV sites, and in July there are kids on the swimming beach. That is a feature for some couples and a dealbreaker for others. If you want it still, come midweek or outside of peak season — see the next section.
- Limited cell service. Calls and data are unreliable across the grounds. Tell whoever needs to know that you may be hard to reach, and download directions before you leave the freeway.
What you get in exchange is space and quiet — four lakes with nobody else on them, a fire you build yourself, and a night sky with no town under it.
The Quietest Weekends of the Year
Timing changes this trip more than which cabin you pick. Here is the honest calendar from the people who watch the driveway.
Late May and early June — the water without the crowd
The lakes are open, the meadows are green, and the summer rush has not started. Evenings are cold enough that a campfire is genuinely welcome rather than decorative. Bring layers and bug spray.
September and October — our quiet recommendation
Warm afternoons, cold mornings, fall color coming into the cottonwoods and larches, and a place that has emptied out after Labor Day. Fishing is good, paddling is still comfortable, and weekend availability opens back up. If you take one suggestion off this page, take this one.
June through August — beautiful and busy
Peak season. The swimming beach gets used, the RV sites fill, and weekends typically carry a 2-night minimum and book months out. Come now if you want long warm days on the water; come midweek if you also want quiet.
November through April — the fireplace version

How a Weekend Here Actually Goes
Not an itinerary so much as what people tend to do once they stop planning.
Friday evening
Leave Seattle after work, stop in Cle Elum for groceries, check in after 3:00 PM. There is usually enough light left for a first paddle — the kayaks and paddle boats are free and nobody is waiting for one. Buy firewood on site, build a fire, and let that be the evening.
Saturday
Early morning is the best fishing of the day and the water is glass. Later, walk the on-property trails or take the short drive east to Roslyn — a former coal town with a walkable downtown and The Brick Saloon, in business since 1889. Be back before sunset; the light on the lakes is what people end up framing.
Sunday
Coffee on the porch while the sheep, alpacas, and horses sort themselves out in the corral. Check-out is 11:00 AM, and you are back in Seattle before lunch — which is the quiet argument for coming here rather than driving four hours to the coast.
Anniversaries, Proposals, and Elopements
A fair number of the couples who book here are marking something. We host all of it, from a two-person elopement on the lakefront to a full wedding with the whole family in cabins and RVs — and exclusive-use bookings of the entire 54 acres are available if you want the place to yourselves.
The practical notes: we do not provide catering, but the lodge kitchen is fully equipped for a caterer or for cooking yourselves, and we can point you to local options in Easton and Cle Elum. Amplified music stops at 10 PM out of consideration for other guests.
